Mycology Del Rosario, Jonathan [1], Perry, Brian [1]. A phylogenetic and taxonomic monographic investigation of Pluteus from Tafea Province, Republic of Vanuatu. Twenty-two species of the genus Pluteus are newly reported from Tafea Province of the Republic of Vanuatu, a subtropical island archipelago in the South Pacific located northeast of Australia and equidistantly situated north of New Caledonia, southeast of the Solomon Islands, and west of Fiji. The taxa reported consist of nine new distributional reports, five tentative identifications, and eight species determined to be new to science. Delimitations of species are based on comprehensive morphological descriptions and DNA sequence data (ITS). Evolutionary relationships of the Vanuatu specimens were examined using phylogenetic analysis of a global sampling of Pluteus and based on currently accepted infrageneric sections: sect. Pluteus, sect. Hispidoderma, and sect. Celluloderma. This work represents the first comprehensive investigation of Pluteus for the country, and the first investigation of fleshy microfungi for Tafea Province. Log in to add this item to your schedule
