Systematics Crowl, Andrew [1], Fritsch, Peter [2], Manos, Paul [3]. A survey of ploidy and preliminary diploid phylogeny for the true blueberries (Vaccinium sect. Cyanococcus). Vaccinium sect. Cyanococcus (the true blueberries) is a North American polyploid species complex of approximately 9–25 taxa and tremendous ecological and economic importance. The presence of hybridization and polyploidy (diploids, tetraploids, and hexaploids), however, has led to much confusion regarding species boundaries and evolutionary history. Here we present results from flow cytometry across all putative species’ ranges and a preliminary diploid phylogeny of V. sect. Cyanococcus based on a target enrichment (HybSeq) dataset. Our results, although preliminary, can serve as a framework for future study of this complex. Log in to add this item to your schedule
