ASPT Incoming President Address - Carolyn Ferguson Ferguson, Carolyn [1]. Where do we go from here? Envisioning opportunities for plant systematics in a post-pandemic world. Many of us are missing the times when we would gather with colleagues at the annual ASPT banquet and hear a light-hearted talk from the incoming president. This summer, like last, is different. The COVID-19 pandemic has been incredibly challenging, and we now live in a world that is different in so many ways. In this talk, I will explore the opportunities we have-at this critical point in time-to advance our field. How do we build on our experiences to ensure a positive future for plant systematics? I will consider the ways in which we teach and train, our advocacy for systematics research and herbaria, and our activities as a professional society. We must be deliberate in our inclusivity, we must be thoughtful in our plans, and we must chart a path forward that advances appreciation for and study of plant diversity.
