Molecular phylogenetics of Vaccinium. Vaccinium is a genus that contains roughly 450 different species in the Ericaceae family. Some common cultivated species of Vaccinium include blueberries, cranberries, bilberries and huckleberries. The goal of this study was to estimate phylogenetic relationships among several dozen Vaccinium species and ancestral states of three notable traits (fruit color, flower color and habit).
